Industrial Floor Levelling

The Faster Way to a Strong and Reliable Industrial Floor

Standard concrete pours rarely meet the exacting standards required for modern industrial racking or high-speed forklifts. And when your subfloor isn’t level, it will impact everything from safety to operational efficiency. To fix this without blowing your timeline, you need industrial floor levelling using rapid-hardening self-levelling compound. This will create a professional floor finish, that’s level and durable, giving you the strength required in an industrial environment.

The Collie Floor Levelling team has built our reputation on fixing the toughest industrial floors. We focus on self-levelling compounds because they provide the most consistent, high-tolerance results – at speed. Working with us means you get a direct, expert consultation and a floor that’s fit for purpose – and that’s a promise.

Precision Floors, Faster With Self-Levelling Compounds

If you’re holding up trades while waiting for liquid screed to cure, you’re losing money. We use self-levelling compounds because they offer the ideal solution for contractors who need results now. Our self-levelling compounds aren’t just “filler” products – they’re designed with the toughest industrial units in mind. When you need a flat floor that’s ready for the next trade, this is how you get it.

The Benefits of Using Self-Levelling Compound:

  • Warehouse Ready – We create floors that are built to last, providing industrial-grade resilience against heavy loads and constant use.
  • Deadline Driven – For retail spaces where every hour counts, our rapid-drying flooring materials guarantee a level finish that’s professional and on time.
  • Renovation Friendly – On upper-floor projects, our high-strength, low-weight compounds give you a flat finish without the weight-related risks of bulkier screeds.
  • Space-Saving UFH – We solve height-restriction issues in retrofits by using thin-coat, high-performance compounds over heating systems.

The Site Prep Checklist

A self-levelling compound is only as good as the surface it’s sticking to. While we handle the precision application, site preparation falls to your team. We’ll provide detailed guidance for prep, but the goal is a clean, dry, and sound substrate in order to avoid delamination or pinholes.

Site Prep Basics:

  • Vacuum-Clean Surface – A swept floor won’t do. We need an industrial-vacuumed finish to be sure that the primer can penetrate the slab.

  • Moisture Testing – The slab must be below the required moisture threshold. If it’s still ‘green’ or damp, you’ll need to install a Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) first.

  • Edge Strips – Install compressible foam perimeter strips around all walls and columns to allow for natural thermal expansion.

  • Borders and Bunding – If we are only levelling a specific section of a warehouse, you’ll need to install secure timber or metal ‘bunds’ to contain the liquid compound.

  • Power Supply – We’ll need access to consistent power and a high-flow water source for our mixing stations.

Curing Timelines - Managing the Site After the Pour

For industrial floor levelling, ‘dry’ and ‘cured’ are different. Our self-levelling compounds allow foot traffic back on the floor quickly, the final strength of the surface depends on how it’s treated in the first 24 to 48 hours.

Industrial Contractor FAQs:

In temperatures of around 20°C, you can expect the floor to take foot traffic in approximately 6 hours. This means no dragging heavy equipment or dropping tools. For full-scale industrial use or the return of heavy machinery, allow for a full 24-hour cure to be sure the surface has reached its rated compressive strength.

No. High heat or direct blowers cause the surface to dry too quickly while the base is still wet, which is how you end up with curling or surface cracking. Keep a steady temperature (around 20°C) and, most important, keep the area draught-free. Block off doorways and vents to achieve this.

If the floor has been down for 24 hours (in the drying conditions explained above) it’ll be ready for most breathable coverings. If you’re installing an impermeable resin or moisture-sensitive vinyl, though, you’ll need to check the residual moisture content first. While the compound sets fast, thicker sections may still be breathing out moisture that can get trapped under a non-porous coating.

Avoid using plastic sheeting, as this traps moisture and can discolour the new surface. Also, ensure no wet trades like painters or plumbers work directly over the uncured floor, as spills can permanently stain the finish.
